BERRIEN COUNTY BROADBAND INITIATIVE

Berrien County is the recipient of a ROBIN (Realizing Opportunity with Broadband Infrastructure Networks) grant from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity to bring high speed internet to unserved and underserved residents.

Hagar Township has committed the full amount ($372,000) of its ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) grant to help fund the initiative. Midwest Energy and Communications (MEC) was awarded the contract and will begin (and complete) fiber optic installation in the 3rd Quarter of 2025.
